BIO

The first time Dan saw the ocean he was five years old. It was down in Corpus Christi, Texas. He and his brother played in the surf and sang Beach Boys’ tunes at the top of their lungs. The Gulf of Mexico still haunts his soul and his music. So much so, that after college, Dan took his guitar and songbook out to sea working for various cruise lines. After two and a half years of sailing and salting, Dan landed in Austin, TX. It's been home ever since. Inspired by the likes of Jimmy Buffett, Robert Earl Keen, and Jerry Jeff Walker, Dan co-founded the award winning duo and national touring act, The Detentions. Their songs Coast and Sunburned have been in constant rotation on Sirius XM Radio Margaritaville since 2014.

In 2025 Dan launched his solo career with his first album “Friendships.” It was awarded best album, song, single and album artwork by the Trop Rock Music Association. Dan also received the 2025 TRMA “Best Male Vocalist” and the “Horizon” awards. He has performed at songwriter showcases and festivals all across the U.S. including The Bluebird Cafe and the Kerrville Folk Festival. He has also opened for Hall of Fame songwriter, Mac McAnally and Texas legend, Joe Ely. When he's not out on tour, you'll find Dan with his toes in the sand in Port Aransas, Texas.
